How to clean stains, dust and dirt from rugs

Rugs are decorative items commonly found in any room of the house. Being close to the floor, constantly walked on and often too large for the washing machine does not help keep them clean. But do not worry! Here is a specific trick for cleaning your household rugs and keeping them looking new for longer.

How to clean rugs

The first thing to know is that there are different types of rugs (wool, synthetic fibres, natural or plant fibres, etc.), and each needs its own care. For example, water and mild soap may be enough to clean a bath mat, but most household rugs need specific products and a few extra minutes.

1. Take your chosen cleaning vinegar or fragranced ammonia cleaner and dilute it in cold water in a small bowl or container. You will not need anything else! Then moisten a sponge or cloth in the mixture.
2. Gently rub the most affected areas with the damp cloth until they are thoroughly moistened. Repeat until you have cleaned the entire rug.
3. Then leave the rug to dry in the sun. When it is dry, all the stains will have disappeared.
